On Sunday afternoon, Patteera or her preferred nickname JaJa arrived! The girls made a poster to put on our house to welcome her. Kailan at first would did not react nicely to her smiles. But by the night was over she was attached to JaJa’s hip. I was working at the sink, the girls were watching tv, and I saw JaJa lean over and kiss her on the forehead! Such a sweet sight. We are enjoying the first steps of getting accustomed to each other. It doesn’t take long to notice and love her smile. She is very polite and appreciative, and is very helpful.

Everyone wants to know “where is she staying?” To host a exchange student, you are to their own room, but not required to have a private room. This week she is staying in Raigan’s room, but this weekend we hope to have our upstairs bonus room ready for her. The bonus room has crafts and a game table that we are going to move out and put a bed.

Monday afternoon, we enrolled her at the High School. She is taking a full load of classes: English, Spanish, Speech, Chemistry, PreCalculus, Multimedia, Speech, and Yearbook. What a full load! She likes camera’s and computers and really wanted to be in yearbook. Yearbook is usually a class that you have to apply to get in, but they allowed her to get in. I had to bribe a little with volunteering my cameras and assistance. In the second semester she is going to take a home-ec class on food.
