All in a week….
It is neat to see your kids accomplish small skills, break through in fears and amaze you with creativity all in one week! Here are stories of each of the girls in areas that I noticed this week while on vacation.
Kailan recently developed a fear of the deeper water. At the neighborhood pool it has a large kids area that is only six inches deep that she loves, but you had to drag her into the deeper water. She would scream the whole time that we held her, she would not sit in anything either. However, that all changed during the middle of the week. A week of hanging out at the pool broke through the fears.
Raigan has been working on two things this week while at the pool: flips and handstands. Maybe because of her long legs she has been having trouble doing a good handstand. Finally tonight she did a great handstand and I took a picture of it, because she couldn’t see it. However, she needs a little work on the flips.
In the category of creativity. Jaidan wanted me to see her do what the “girls at the sea world show with the dolphins were doing”. So she went to the step and did a underwater synchronized swimmer position. I was amazed that she was watching that well at Sea World and that she would come up with that two days later.
So we went to the city park and they had some “old school” swimming stuff, including a rope swing. It was a morale boost to Kerrigan that she found something that she could do better than Raigan and for that matter her daddy! Raigan and Daddy could not hold onto to the swing as we headed toward the water, we would release and slap our faces into the water. But not Kerrigan, she could hold on to the exact right moment and release easily into the water.
