Heisman Park and Heisman Parents

So before heading back from the New Year's trip. I took the girls to see the OU Stadium. We got out to walk inside the stadium and look at the 'Heisman Park', an area outside the stadium that has a statue to OU's heisman winners. Raigan was asking about what the Sam Bradford statue would look like and other questions about the guys.

So we were looking at the statues when we passed a couple also looking at the statues. He said a normal small town "hi" and I responded with a similar small town greeting. I noticed that this couple was inspecting the statues really close, and I recognized the man's face. I told Raigan, "I think that is Sam Bradford's parents." So when we crossed paths, I told him that he looked familar, and asked if he was someone's dad. He replied, "yes, I am a dad." and I said "a dad that of someone that will need a statue?" He smiled and said yes. We talked about the statues and the process that they are involved in creating a statue of Sam.

After telling the story to Kristi, who was in the car, she asked if I had said anything stupid. In thinking about it, I probably said a couple of things. I made comments that they should use the pose of him going head over heals against OSU and a comment about making sure that they have a hair style that in twenty years that be like Sims' afro. However, I expressed to them I could not imagine what they go through in a game, because I am a nervous wreck watching my daughters play little league soccer.
