Kerrigan makes UIL team

In Texas, school related competitions are managed by the UIL or University Inter-Scholastic League. The first year to compete in UIL Academic Competitions is the 2nd grade. Kerrigan tried out for both events. First was the Creative Writing, they were given a picture and had to create a story using it, she found out on Friday she did not make this team. She also tried out for the Storytelling Team. The children were read a story, and then they go into another room with a person who has not heard the story. The kids must repeat the story, telling key facts as the judge has a checklist to match the story. They also look for expression in retelling the story. Her note that said she made the team stated, "You were able to recall the facts and you held my attention by making eye contact and using expression."
