Kailan had her first birthday. We were all set to celebrate this great day this weekend, but the virus postponed the party. However she has new tricks to go with her age: she is waving bye, standing and taking steps!

To think that on April 19th, 2007 this is what I posted online:

Sometime before delivery she started breathing while in the womb and took in some fluid. This was a major concern, and because of this we got to hold her for about a minute. Then she was sent to the nursery. While there they were able to pump and clear the fluid. But through the process she was having trouble breathing. She had a constant "grunt" that showed that she was having trouble with air intake. At three hours old we were told that in the next hour a decision would need to be made about sending her on to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU. The time came and passed without her loosing ground, but she also was not gaining ground either.

We are thankful to God for our gift of Kailan Roze, his hand of protection and guidance.
