A bad memory revisited

The year was 1993, I was in college and working at FBC Wilburton, Ok. We were taking a group of students to Six Flags for the Christian Youth Weekend. Kristi and I were just starting in our relationship, and she went as a sponsor. On our way to Six Flags, one of our vehicles had a wreck. On top of that it was a borrowed vehicle because one of our sponsors backed out at the last minute. The day was spent with the crowd a six flags, which I hate because I hate rides! I tried to fool Kristi that I was "man enough" to hide my fears. However, all it took was a ride on the Judge Roy Scream for her to realize that I was afraid of rides. The day turned worse following the concert when it began to rain. We were all soaked as we got in our cars, and everyone in the park excited at the same time. This caused problems in the parking lot, combined with later being lost in Dallas before heading back to Wilburton. I think we arrived at 3:30am, add to that it was time change so it was really 4:30am, and to make things even worse it was Easter Sunday! This was one of the worst days of my life!

In the years since, we have never been to Six Flags as a youth group on Christian Youth Weekend. We have not been to many times, but especially not on this bad memory weekend. However, this changed as we took a group this weekend. We took students who had helped at soccer camp. I have gotten wiser in my old age. I took my laptop and hung out in the lobby of LaQuinta across the street from the park. I watched NCAA basketball in the lobby, surfed on the wifi, and even took a nap. At 7pm, I entered the park to go to the concert.  I even had a steak at Steak and Ale, for the same price that some had eaten in the park!
