Christmas 07

Okay, so I apologize for not getting the Christmas update online quicker! We had a great Christmas with family in Marietta, Ok.

The tradition includes:

  1. Christmas Eve with Mom (great grandmother) now at Nana's. This is the cousin get-together.
  2. Christmas Morning at Meme&Papa's with Santa Gifts.
  3. Christmas morning breakfast at Nana's with Nana's family.
  4. Christmas night at Meme&Papa with M&P, Shane's Fam and Nana.

Some Highlights of the events:

  • Christmas Eve - Kristi went to work at the store, I was to bring the girls to Marietta. I had to get all of our Christmas presents printed, because of the busy weekend that we had. It was not too crowded out and about and the girls decided that we needed to get some Santa pics. I think that they turned out OK for not planning the clothes or hair when we we left the house! I had several people say with their mouth and even more with their eyes, "you sure have your hands full!"
  • At Nana's we do a bingo game with gag gifts. Kerrigan's first present to open was a soccer trophy, missing the head. This was a little traumatic (which also means Dramatic with Kerrigan) event. It was the first thing that she opened, pretty depressing for a kid!
  • The girls got American Girl dolls for Christmas. We had heard about these dolls but never understood what they were about. It was not until watching Oprah (because Hannah Montana was on the show) that we fully understood the concept. Chalk us up to the power of Oprah to push and item! The dolls are historically based in clothing and accessories. But more than that they have a book series of adventures for each girl growing up in that time period. Being the History guy, this sold me. So I went one day to the American Doll store in Dallas and picked out the dolls (Meme&Papa bought them). Kerrigan's doll is Kit, a 1930's girl growing up in the depression. Raigan's is Julie a 1970's girl growing up in the 1970's. I actually read the first book in the Julie series. She has to fight for the right to play basketball at school because Title 9 was just beginning.
  • Our biggest presents that we gave were the pictures that we made. I completed these this past weekend and got them printed on Christmas Eve! I have learned some new photoshop skills that I put to use on these projects. You can see these creations in the Photo Album below. Of course the subjects make it easy to create such beautiful results!
  • This was Kailan's first Christmas! She is learning belly crawling and crawling! She has the innate ability to open presents, must be chromosomal or at least genetic.
