Moving Week

Only in Servati world would we come back from the mission trip to immediately start moving into the new house! Sometimes there is not a choice in life. I am going to be gone next week to a camp, and when I return Kristi starts Volleyball practice, so this had to be a big week.

We came home from the mission trip to find that we had an AC problem at the "old house" so we stayed in the new house the first night. We had all of our bags, I grabbed three kid's mattresses and we moved in for the night.

Much of the week has been spent painting. We have painted every room in the house! We are about to start putting in wood floors in much of the living area. With our kids we have some bad carpet, and I am sure that we will be that hard on carpet for several more years to come. We are about to move some large things in this weekend.

The following people have helped us this week:

  • The Jeff and Elizabeth Smith family for allowing us to invade their house until our AC was fixed.
  • Tammy Kirk has been heading up this work project. She is our foreman and has been instrumental in planning volunteers and giving directions.
  • Elizabeth Smith and Nancy Kerr have been at the house each day helping paint and anything else that needed to be done. Not just a couple of hours but full days of work!
  • The boys: Patrick Presley, Josh Kirk, Jeffrey Smith, Ethan Dyer, and Wesley Kerr were there to do whatever was asked.
  • Other painters: Martha Campbell and Kim Boedeker were our polka dot specialists.
  • People that have brought us food: Roy and Helen Olson, Wayne and Suzanne Rackley, and Lynette Weber.
  • People who have watched the girls so that we could get things done: Meme and Papa, Helen Olson, Lisa George, Nancy Kerr, Elizabeth Smith, and Shanna Sorrells.
  • David McGinnis for helping get the AC and other issues fixed at the "old house".
  • Brian George for loaning me his big red truck all week to help move things.
  • David Kerr for edging the yard, and Noah Kirk for mowing.

This list is just amazing! As you can see we have been blessed by the response of our church family in helping us make this transition. It is amazing and humbling to have such help because we would not be anywhere close to this point without their assistance. We have been blessed by God by the actions of the people listed above. I am sure that I left somebody out, if so I apologize.

Here are some pictures of the progress so far: (Descriptions below)

  1. the accent wall, as you enter the house. This room is to the left, we are going to set up the office here. The doorway goes to the kitchen.
  2. Living room
  3. Master bedroom, the only other green wall in the house.
  4. Kristi working hard on painting the trim
  5. Raigan's room, the room was previously four walls of the green. We added an orange wall and the polka dots
  6. Jaidan and Kailan's room. It was two shades of brown, and we painted the top light pink. We will run a border across the middle
  7. Not pictured: Kerrigan's room is purple and lilac. I will add a picture later when we paint the huge flower that she wanted on the wall.
