Basketball Party

Tonight we had the end of the season basketball party. I told the following story about our team. In the third quarter Meaghan was playing point guard and Raigan was playing the post position. We were bringing the post in motion to the free throw and Meaghan missed the opportunity to pass the ball when she was open a couple of times. We were loosing at that point of the game. The other team took a time out, and as Meaghan walked off the court, she told me that Raigan should take her place at point guard. This was a big statement because Meaghan loves the chance to play the point position. So we made the change, and Meaghan had to play the point position. Meaghan came to the free throw line and Raigan passed her the ball, Meaghan turned and dribbled it straight to the goal and scored. The next time down the court, same thing. It was because of this change that we went on to win the third place in the tournament.

What an amazing thing for a fourth grader to value the team more than herself! I was very proud to relay this inside story to the parents tonight. When I was making the collage above I was thinking of this story, I came up with the theme "Nine Stars, One Team"
